• I just wanted to say “thank you” to the off-duty police officer who, while out jogging during the Village Green Garage Sale last weekend, helped diffuse a situation from a very rude, hostile man who was yelling out of his car at people who were parked on the road. He was upset, apparently, that people were parked on both sides of the road.

Village Green has very wide roads, so if people park properly on each side of the road there should never be a problem for an ambulance or a fire truck to get through.

If you go online and look it up, Knox County Sheriff’s Office (site), you will find that there is only supposed to be 18 feet of curb-to-curb or car-to-car, car-to-curb clearance for people to get through, which is why with some smaller subdivisions, you should never, ever park on the curb.

But thank you again to the police officer, he didn’t have to do that, but he did because, apparently, he cares about his community, and I am grateful for that. We should all be.
