‘Movies at McGill’s’ ‘Moana’ Aug. 28
Send Senior Citizens Love is hosting its second “Movies at McGill,” which starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in Mayor Ralph McGill Plaza at the corner of Kingston Pike and North Campbell Station Road.
The Disney film “Moana” will be shown at this outdoor setting. Cost is free, but donations will be accepted, with proceeds going to Send Senior Citizens Love.
“The last ‘Movies at McGill’ was a great
first-time event,” SSCL founder Ashley Lynch said. “It was a spontaneous decision. After I thought about it, I told my Board then ran to the goal line.
“I wanted our first event to be community-based and something that everyone — young or old — could enjoy,” she added.
“People had nothing but compliments and questions of when the next movie will happen.”
Cool Sports Home of the Icearium and Faith Promise Church will be participating, as will Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, which will again bring a popcorn bar to the festivities.
“Movies at McGill” will continue monthly through November. Lynch is planning other fundraising opportunities for SSCL, including one during Christmas, a 5k run, and a return of “Movies at McGill” in the Spring.
