• Town of Farragut will host its 25th Annual Freaky Friday Fright Nite from 5 to 7 p.m,. Friday, Oct. 29, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park, 301 Watt Road.

Children ages 12 and under are invited to “trick or treat” on the walking trail while representatives of local businesses, community groups and Town of Farragut volunteers hand out treats and provide games with prizes and cookie decorating.

This is a free event, but participants are asked to bring items to benefit the local Ronald McDonald House, which provides a “home away from home” for families with critically ill children being served by area hospitals.

Collection stations will be located next to the cookie-decorating area off the main parking lot on Watt Road, and next to the entrance from the Harrison Lane parking lot. Cash donations also will be accepted. Learn more about the Ronald McDonald House of Knoxville at knoxrmhc.org.

For the first time, Kona Ice and the Hot Dog Hut will be on location with snacks for purchase. They will accept cash and all major credit cards, but not Apple Pay.

For more information about Freaky Friday, contact Brittany Spencer at bspencer@townoffarragut.org or 865-218-3378. The event will be held rain or shine; however, in the case of severe inclement weather, check Farragut Parks & Recreation on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the status of the event.

• Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate in nightly giveaways at Light the Park, once again in Founders Park at Campbell Station (405 N. Campbell Station Road) from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, through Wednesday, Dec. 23. This is the second year businesses and organizations have had the opportunity to hand out goodies, treats, crafts and more at this annual holiday event.

Individuals or groups also can register to carol during the same period. Caroling can be conducted on stage or on walking trails throughout the park.

This year also adds food trucks to the lineup. Interested food truck owners must have trucks inspected by Fire Marshal Dan Johnson. Contact Brittany Spencer at bspencer@townoffarragut.org to schedule an inspection.

Light the Park takes place rain or shine. Each evening’s event schedule will be advertised on Farragut Parks & Recreation’s social media and at farragutparksandrec.org.

Signing up for giveaways, food truck operation and caroling is free, but you must contact Brittany Spencer at bspencer@townoffarragut.org to be added to the event calendar. For more information about Light the Park, e-mail Brittany or call 865-218-3378.
