Farragut High School’s Student Government Association is hosting a movie event this weekend to help fund its largest annual community project.
“Screen on the Green” is SGA’s Junior Class movie night project, and will take place on FHS’s Bill Clabo Field from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23.
Tickets are $5 each, and funds raised will go to East Knoxville’s Love Kitchen, for which the organization annually holds a very successful fall canned-food drive.
“The proceeds from ticket sales will be going to the Love Kitchen, a charity we hold very dear to our hearts in the SGA,” said SGA junior class vice president Cathlene Horwege of Movie Night.
She has been assisted in the planning by Gracie Orrico, SGA club secretary, along with junior class secretary Kate Ford, junior class president Will Duncan, junior class treasurer Matthew Ferrari and 16 junior class SGA representatives overseeing Movie Night.
“This event is for students and local families alike,” Horwege said. “We will be showing a double feature: first, ‘Nightmare before Christmas’ ... geared towards young children, and ‘Hocus Pocus.’
“The 24-foot screen being used is graciously provided by Miss Ashley Lynch,” Horwege added. “For concessions, we will be selling popcorn and water. We want to welcome anyone in our community to set up a blanket, eat some popcorn and have a fun (and spooky) night with us.”
