Town’s BlueCross Healthy Place playground set to open Oct. 28
The new BlueCross Healthy Place playground behind Farragut Town Hall will officially open this Thursday, Oct. 28, following at 5 p.m. ribbon cutting.
The bright blue and white playground, which has been under construction for several months, is all-inclusive, featuring slides, a merry-go-round, a swing set, a fitness station for adults and teens and a picnic pavilion.
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation paid for construction and provided funds for replacing parts in the future after Town Parks and Recreation director Sue Stuhl successfully applied for a $750,000 grant last year.
No matching funds were required for the project. Ten municipalities will receive Healthy Place playgrounds in celebration of the company’s 75th anniversary, and the company plans to build more, according to a Town press release.
BlueCross Healthy Place grant applicants choose from six packages based on community need, and Farragut chose the Thrive and Play design, as officials have long discussed the need for an all-inclusive playground.
The new play space was constructed by Chattanooga-based PlayCore.
