• William S. Rukeyser, a University of Tennessee Medical Center board of directors member, recently received the Trustee of Distinction Award from Tennessee Hospital Association.

The award recognized active or recently retired members of board of directors or associate/advisory board of a THA institution. Rukeyser has served in numerous volunteer board roles for more than 20 years at UTMC, including chairman from 2011 to 2020.

• Kimberly-Clark Corporation of Knoxville recently was one of three regional truck carriers, logistics providers and freight shippers — among 72 nationally — to be honored by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as industry leaders in supply chain, environmental and energy efficiency with its annual SmartWay Excellence Award.

They were announced at a virtual award ceremony hosted by EPA with its SmartWay partners, affiliates and key stakeholders. The award recipients represent the top-performing, environmentally responsible SmartWay Partners that move more goods, more miles, with lower emissions and less energy. They also demonstrate how businesses continue to lead.
