RV Landscapes launches to ‘exceed expectations’

A Farragut brother and sister, Steve Reynolds and Jessica Kivette, have partnered to own River Valley Landscapes, which launched Oct. 1.

“We do everything from design and build landscape installation, hardscapes and outdoor living spaces,” Reynolds said.

While they do not do mowing, he said they do bed maintenance and annual maintenance. “The bulk of our work is going to be more installation-type work,” he said.

River Valley provides landscaping for both residential and commercial, but he noted, “Right now, we’re focusing on the residential side of everything.

“A big thing for us is we want to be that one-stop company for your outdoor living spaces,” Reynolds added. “We do every aspect of it, and we’re a customer-client first-type of company.”

“I would say one of his strengths is finding individual solutions for each customer,” Kivette said. “Every customer has a different problem in their yard they want handled or fixed. I think finding those individualized solutions for each individual client is what sets us apart.”

Reynolds added their motto is to “exceed expectations one client at a time.”

River Valley Landscapes is a family-owned

business.

“Our parents were entrepreneurs themselves,” Reynolds said. “I think they kind of embodied that spirit in us a little bit.”

“We grew up outside,” Kivette said. “We grew up doing a lot of outdoor activities together as a family.”

The idea for the business came about when they started talking as a family one day.

“My dad always wanted us to take over his company. I don’t think either one of us really had an interest” in being a commercial electrical contractor, Reynolds said. “And where my weaknesses are, (Kivette) had strengths and vice versa.

“We thought we could make a really good team,” he added. “So far, it’s been unbelievable. … Everything has worked out great.”

Reynolds has been in the landscaping business for 22 years, whereas Kivette worked at U.S. Cellular as an executive assistant. She also brings with her 20 years of retail and restaurant management experience.

“I had actually previously owned a business, left the industry and went to work for Master Dry, a master service company, for three years,” he said. “It taught me a lot about sales, service and stuff like that. I always thought to myself that applying it to a landscape business, it would be hard to stop it.”

After leaving Master Dry, he went to work for one of the larger landscaping installation companies in Knoxville before venturing again on his own.

“We want to bring more of that construction feel to landscaping,” Reynolds said.

The company currently is home-based, but he said they are looking for a lot and building.
