New Year’s resolution help: 2nd Health-Wellness Fair set

Shop Farragut/Farragut Business Alliance is bringing back 2nd Annual Farragut Health and Wellness Expo, which will help some community members stick with their New Year’s resolutions.

In partnership with Turkey Creek Medical Center/Tennova Healthcare, the Expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, in Farragut Community Center gymnasium, 239 Jamestowne Blvd. just north of Village Green Shopping Center. Parking is available at the community center and the shopping center.

“I feel great about it,” said Steve Krempasky, Shop Farragut executive director. “There are no indoor masks, and … we’re not going to socially distance all the booths, so it will give a nice energy to it.

“I think (this year’s event) will be a lot better,” he added. “We have more vendors already than we did last time — I’ve already started a waiting list for people — and I’m sure it will grow in the future.

“We’re getting to hold it in January, which is when all of the fitness people wanted to hold it – right after New Year’s, when everyone’s resolutions are to become healthy and fit. That’s when we really wanted to hold it last time, too.”

Krempasky said he intended to have last year’s inaugural Expo in January, but it was pushed forward to August because of the COVID pandemic.

This year’s Expo, which is free and open to the public, will feature more than two dozen local businesses specializing in the care of the human body, mind and spirit.

Additionally, attendees have an opportunity to take a Lend A Hand, Save A Life CPR and AED class through ACTIFAST-CPR Inc., which specializes in CPR training and other emergency techniques.

While the event itself is free, Krempasky pointed out there is a charge for the class.

Vendors “provide products and services for your comfort and well-being in support of a healthy lifestyle,” Krempasky said. “SouthEast Bank supports the Expo as a platinum-level sponsor. MLILY Mattress is a silver-level sponsor, and Knoxville TVA Employee Credit Union is a community sponsor.”

Patrons also can visit booths from a wide variety of health services and personal retail.

“For example, Beltone will conduct hearing tests, and American Home Pro will show new safe-aging items and technologies for your home,” Krempasky added.

Other committed vendors include the University of Tennessee Medical Center Advanced Orthopedic Center & Bariatric Program, MediSpa at Choto, Arbonne International/GoHealtyTN, Cool Sports, Root Journey, Clean Eatz, Blue Ridge Yoga, The Smoky Rose Boutique, Select Physical Therapy, Optimal Health, Garde Bien Spa and Salon, Anytime Fitness, Revvl Health & Chiropractic, Simply Physio, West Bikes, Hutchison Rehabilitation Inc., OsteoStrong of Farragut, Raven Originals, Core Change, Bio-Pure and Cory Gerlach with Edward Jones Financials, who will discuss patrons’ financial well-being.
