Make it 29 straight, as Town again earns Excellence in Financial Reporting honor
For the 29th consecutive year, Town of Farragut has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
Earned for its comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2021, Farragut is one of 27 Tennessee cities, out of 345, to receive the award.
Town finance staff, led by Town recorder Allison Myers, puts together the annual financial report. It’s available at townoffarragut.org/financials.
“Winning this award each year shows the Town’s commitment to transparency and a higher standard of accounting principles,” Farragut Town administrator David Smoak said.
“Allison Myers and Pam Hall do an excellent job with financial records maintenance and ensuring that the Town complies with state and local financial policies,” he added.
“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” a GFOA press release stated.
The GFOA provides “... professional development, resources and practical research for more than 20,000 members and the communities they serve,” the release further stated.
