NHC’s Rhoden CNA of the Year
“I was humbled; I was grateful,” she recalled about receiving the award. “I thought it was very nice … it made me feel appreciated.
“I try to do a good job,” Rhoden added. “I try to all my stuff the right way.
“I’ve just always enjoyed taking care of people.”
Surprised by the award, Rhoden received roses and $500.
“It made me feel real good,” she added. “They gave me a lot of complements, and everyone let me know how much they appreciated my work ethic. I got lots of hugs and congratulations.”
While Rhoden has been at NHC Place Farragut since Jan. 5, 1999, she has been a CNA for 30 years.
“I love the people who work here,” she said. “We have a lot of professional staff … it’s a job where you can move forward.
“I like everyone I work with,” she added. “It takes a team of people you work with that runs the show.
As a CNA, Rhoden said she wants “everyone who does not feel good to feel worthy, to get better and to feel the best they can, to show the patients compassion for what they are going through and try to make their lives better.”
Rhoden recalled she was inspired by her mother to become a CNA.
“My mom had taken care of her parents at home,” Rhoden said. “I went to CNA school right after high school. I was 18 years old.
“We always took care of our grandparents … it’s just always what I was used to doing,” she added.
