State champions aplenty
High School state champs for 2021 in the Farragut area are reviewed:
• In Farragut if you talk about champions “going all the way” in 2021, perhaps you should start with Nick Green’s Farragut High School Lady Ads softball team.
Losing just two games all season, FHS won the program’s second state championship, in Class AAA, in May in Murfreesboro.
• When it comes to competitive high school running, Bryan Brown twice collected state title hardware in 2021. His boys cross country team won its second straight Class AAA state crown.
• Brown’s indoor boys track and field team earned a state championship in February behind individual state crowns from Austin Rome in the 400-meter dash and Gavin English in the triple jump.
• Hardin Valley’s Unified track-field team, a program praised statewide and nationally, won a third consecutive state championship in May.
• HVA junior Sidnee Stanton was state champ in the triple jump to help the Lady Hawks finish second in Division I Large girls track-field.
• Bearden senior Christian Langlois was state champ in the 200-meter dash and 100-dash during the Division I Large boys state meet.
• Ethan Fulford of CAK won the Division II-A boys 110-hurdles and 300 hurdles.
• For a ninth consecutive year, Bearden High School’s dance program captured a TSSAA State Championships. The 2021-2022 team took top honors in Medium Varsity Pom in Murfreesboro.
The program has earned five national titles and 14 TSSAA state crowns since 2009.
• For the third straight year of TSSAA Cheer & Dance competitions, Farragut High School’s dance team has earned two state championship honors, Small Varsity Jazz and Small Varsity Pom. The most recent, by the 2021-22 FHS team, came Saturday, Nov. 6, in Murfreesboro.
• Webb School of Knoxville’s boys soccer team finished a perfect 20-0-0 after capturing the Division II-A state crown in Murfreesboro by edging Franklin Grace Christian 1-0 May 27.
• Knoxville Catholic girls volleyball won the program’s second state crown in Murfreesboro in October.
• In tennis, Knoxville Catholic’s girls earned a Division II-AA state title May 26.
• CAK eighth-grader Allie Faulkner beat Kai Wince of Lausanne 6-2, 6-2 for the Division II-A girls singles title.
• Webb senior Lili Roth and junior Delaney Boone beat Brilee Davis and Addy Measley of USJ 6-3, 6-1 for the Division II-A girls doubles tennis title.
• Helping lead Webb Spartans boys tennis to a runner-up state finish were Division II-A doubles champs Alex Jurgens, a junior, and Wilder Dewhirst. a sophomore.
