Quick start, Mains’ 36 fuels KCHS girls
KNOXVILLE — Jumping out to a 14-0 lead, then turning back a Webb School second-quarter run, Knoxville Catholic’s girls were especially excited after a huge 56-39 region road victory Friday, Jan. 28.
“It worked out pretty well,” said sophomore wing Sydney Mains, who led all scorers with 36 points (seven 3-pointers).
“We realized winning this game makes us region champs,” said KCHS post Ella Renfree, whose team improved to 5-0 in region, 16-7 overall.
Though saying “we’re not getting the job done” with effort or execution, Webb coach Shelley Collier praised Katelyn Overton and Sheelove Knowles for effort. Madelyn Ladd led her team with 12 points.
