Nation’s #1: BHS yet again

ORLANDO — Bearden High School’s 18-member dance team has made history once again after winning the National Championship in Large Varsity Game Day Division in the National Dance Team Championship, at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at The Walt Disney World Resort Friday through Sunday, Feb. 4-6.

Led by Coach Hannah Keathley, technical coach Kathryn Brasfield and choreographer Katie Fear Lane, this BHS program holds three national Pom championship titles (2018, 2019 and 2021) while earning its third Game Day division national crown (also 2019 and 2021). Bearden also is defending TSSAA State Pom champion for 2021-2022 for the third year in a row and holds eight consecutive TSSAA Jazz Division state titles (2014-2021, plus 2011).

Also placing fourth in Medium Varsity Pom, the team is sponsored by Rebecca Nutter, BHS teacher.
