BHS, FHS boys top 2 in region

BLOUNT COUNTY — The Bearden-Farragut District 4-4A Tournament championship game at Heritage High School happened after farragutpress deadline Tuesday night, Feb. 22.

Regardless of the outcome, both teams will host Region 2-4A opening-round games starting at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26 — but these contest, along with region semifinal games (played at the highest seed’s home court) Tuesday, March 1, are must-wins. A loss in either round ends that team’s season.

Region title game for the boys is Thursday, March 3, at the home of the higher seed (District 4-4A will host if both team have the same seed).

While No. 2-seed Bearden slipped past No.-3 seed Hardin Valley Academy 67-65 in district tourney semifinal games Saturday, Feb. 19, the top-seeded Admirals (22-7) beat No. 4 William Blount 70-52 behind a game-high 19 points from league MVP Dillon Atwell, senior guard.

Ryan Neal added 14 points for FHS, followed by Carter Mayfield scoring 13 (three 3-point field goal) and 10 from Dallas Carbaugh.
