FY 23 Budget among BOMA topics to make up for missing Feb. 24
The upcoming 2022-23 budget now is on the minds of Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen as they begin planning the new budget, starting with a workshop Thursday, March 3, in Farragut Town Hall, 11408 Municipal Center Drive.
The workshop will follow Farragut Beer Board meeting, which starts at 2 p.m.
“These were originally scheduled to take place at the Feb. 24 board meeting, which was canceled due to an unforeseen emergency,” Town Public Relations and Marketing coordinator Wendy Smith stated in a press release.
The Board will meet again beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 10.
Trevor Hobbs, assistant to the Town administrator, explained Board members hold a strategic retreat every year, which was Feb. 4, before they begin the budget process, starting with revenues and expenses, in a workshop where there would be no decisions made. Those revenues and expenses affect upcoming capital investment projects.
Because of the lack of a quorum, Hobbs said Board members “didn’t think it would be beneficial to meet (Feb. 24) since the full Board wouldn’t be there to see (the numbers).
“They want to be on the same page,” he added.
The Beer Board will consider a special occasion beer permit for St. John Neumann Catholic Church’s annual “Off to the Races” Derby Auction fundraiser, scheduled to take place from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, March 5, in the gymnasium of SJN Catholic School, 625 St. John Court. This dinner and dance is one of the church’s main fundraisers, said Patrick Wade, SJNCC and SJN Catholic School director of development.
On March 10, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen will act on the following:
• Approval of 2022 Forget Me Not 5K, benefiting the Pat Summit Clinic and scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to noon, April 16, in Village Green shopping center. The event is expected to have 750 to 1,000 participants.
