Full opening of Virtue Road ‘no later than April 4,’ Town officials
Following almost exactly 14 months of construction in two phases, Virtue Road is expected to open no later than Monday, April 4, according to Town of Farragut officials.
“The Town is on schedule to complete the current stage of Virtue Road improvements within the next couple of weeks, between Monday, March 28, and Monday, April 4,” assistant Town engineer Brannon Tupper said last week, as paving began on the final portion of the second phase of the project.
Town Mayor Ron Williams said the completion of Virtue Road at this stage “is weather dependent (regarding) trimming it all out.
“It looks very good now,” Williams added. “Kudos to Bell (& Associates Construction) for another excellent job.”
During this second phase of the project, Virtue Road had been closed to though traffic from the roundabout south to Vista Brook Lane for the last four months.
Wendy Smith, Town public relations and marketing coordinator, said construction on the overall project began Feb. 1, 2021, on the first phase of improvements, which was completed Oct. 15. At that time, Virtue Road was closed from Kingston Pike to the roundabout at Brookmere subdivision.
The second phase began shortly thereafter.
The overall project improved Virtue Road from Kingston Pike to 2,200 feet south of Broadwood Drive. Upgrades included two 11-foot lanes with curb and gutter, replacement of the existing bridge over Little Turkey Creek and an 8-foot multi-use greenway.
Vaughn & Melton was the project designer.
