Town Hall renovation design contract approved
Farragut Town Hall is in line to receive an interior facelift this year.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously approved a professional services contract with Cope Architecture for the design portion of the renovations during its meeting Thursday, March 10.
“This year, we’re looking at construction documents for $100,000, and they’ll also be beginning construction,” Town administrator David Smoak said in a workshop prior to the meeting. “The construction money will actually be allocated out of the (American Rescue Plan Act) fund, so it’s not going to be in your CIP (fund).
“We’ve got $1 million out of ARPA funds to do Town Hall renovations, and these will all be interior renovations of Town Hall,” he added.
The building opened in 1991.
“We’ve moved along 30 years later, and much of the office space has been filled up and does not provide for efficient working environment for our staff to be able to conduct public meetings and do the work they need to do,” Smoak said at the Board meeting.
Smoak said the contract amount, $90,000, includes a schematic design and design development, construction documents and procurement and construction administration.
He expects the design work to take 150 days to complete and construction estimated at six months from notice to proceed.
In a similar action, the Board unanimously approved a $1.032 million professional services agreement with Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. to provide a Town-wide stormwater infrastructure assessment of the condition and $17,000 to make repairs. It all will be funded with ARPA funds.
