Avoiding end-of-season loss, FHS rips Lady Hawks
MARYVILLE — Looking to avoid elimination in the District 4-4A tourney as defending state champs, Farragut (32-3-1) used home runs from Ava Gusowski and Lauren Brakovec — each with two hits and a combined seven RBI — to help FHS survive Monday, May 9, at John Sevier Field.
Lots of other Lady Ads contributed big to a 12-2 victory against rival and No. 6 seed Hardin Valley Academy, whose season ended Monday.
Addison Pressley belted three hits with one RBI, while Autumn Caywood added two hits and one RBI, as did Laney Shrader, which included a double. Hailey Nichols added an RBI triple. Emily Musco doubled, while Sarah Livingston also had one hit.
Winning pitcher Avery Flatford went five innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs and four walks with 12 strikeouts. Brooke Taylor led HVA with two hits and one RBI.
