HVMS teams 2nd, 5th at state meet; 5 No. 1’s

FRANKLIN — Recording five state champion efforts in runs or throws, including a 100- and 200-meter dash sweep from eighth-grader Chloe Truss, Hardin Valley Middle School’s girls and boys teams earned top five finishes during the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association state meet at Franklin High School Saturday, May 21.

The girls finished as state runner-up (45 points) while also capturing state crowns in the 4 X 400 relay (4:12.96), and a second-place finish in the 400 dash from seventh-grader Annie Ogle (1:01.06). Chloe’s winning times were 12.66 in the 100 and 25.99 in the 200.

Hardin Valley’s boys claimed fifth place (33 points), as eighth-grader Jeriod Fowler won discus (165 feet-02). He also finished fourth in shot put (44-11.75).

Eighth-grader Radek Molchan was champion in the 800 run (2:05.55) while a runner-up in the 1600 (4:36.71).

Also scoring points for the Lady Hawks were Carolina Areheart, an eighth-grader who finished fifth in the 800 and seventh in 1600, and the eighth-place 4 X 100 foursome.

West Valley Middle

West Valley Middle School recorded points in one boys and one girls event: Lily Johnson claimed fifth-place in long jump while seventh-grader Cade Duncanson finished seventh in the 1600.
