Brick-mortar expansion for Kooky cookies

Kooky Cookies is expanding into a new brick and mortar shop, 10710 Kingston Pike (next to Gold’s Gym), and is hosting its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, June 3.

Owners are Farragut residents Margarita McClure (also the owner of Blueberry Diapers) and Priscilla Deets.

The business was started in McClure’s home kitchen two years ago as an opportunity for her to create a learning environment for her four children based on her 25 years of entrepreneurial experiences.

As someone with food sensitivities, McClure said she “also wanted to concoct over-the-top stuffed cookies with the highest-quality ingredients and then perfect gluten-free, dairy-free, allergen-friendly versions of each specialty cookie so those with food allergies and sensitivities could share in the same delight by having the full range of specialty and limited-edition flavors available to them, as well, without feeling like an after-thought.”

Kooky Cookies — named by McClure’s children — rapidly grew into a commercial kitchen operating out of its original location on the edge of Farragut to better serve orders placed online for pick-up and had a booth at Market Square Farmer’s Market.

Outgrowing their commercial kitchen, the owners are excited to expand into its new location to serve the local community as well as meeting the demand for their nationwide customers through online ordering and shipping.

“We could not express enough gratitude for all of those who have joined us in this journey of creating joy through cookies” McClure stated in a recent social media post.

During grand opening, they will have a “Buy One Stuffed Cookie, Get One Drop Cookie Free” offer, McClure said.

Regular store hours will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. They are closed Sundays.

Its website will still operate around the clock at
