Local businessman Matlock named to TN Higher Ed Commission Board
NASHVILLE — Lt. Gov. Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge) announced Tuesday, June 6, the appointment of former state Rep. Jimmy Matlock, a prominent Farragut area businessman, to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission Board.
“Jimmy Matlock was an outstanding legislator who I was honored to serve alongside,” McNally said. “He has a unique understanding of the needs of the people of Tennessee and is well versed in education issues. I have no doubt he will serve the commission with great distinction.”
Owner of Matlock Tire & Auto Service with its five Knox-area locations, Matlock served as a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives for more than a decade (representing Lenoir City and parts of Mornoe County).
He also is a former chair of the Loudon County Republican Party,
Matlock has been involved in many civic and community organizations, including the Loudon County United Way and the East Tennessee Church of the Nazarene Advisory Board.
