Ford, ex-UT SID, to speak as Mimi’s Café is site of Farragut Lions membership drive

Farragut Lions Club is hosting a membership drive meeting starting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, in Mimi’s Café in Turkey Creek.

Harris D. “Bud” Ford, University of Tennessee athletic historian, ex-UT Sports Information director and retired associate director of athletics, will be the guest speaker.

Ford spent more than 45 years in athletic media relations, and retired in December 2011, according to a Farragut Lions Club press release.

However, he returned to the UT Athletic department part-time in October 2019, as athletic historian.

A member of three Halls of Fame, Ford was inducted into Tennessee Sports Writers Association Hall of Fame in July 2010, the College Sports Information Directors of America Hall of Fame in May 2001 and Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

He currently serves as a member of the selection committee of GKSHF.

Those wishing to attend and learn more about Farragut Lions Club and Ford are welcome, according to club officials, and only need to RSVP and plan to pay for their meal.
