Tech scholarships open for FWKCC members

Being a Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce member has a new perk — an opportunity to obtain a tech scholarship.

Applications are open for this quarter, according to FWKCC president/CEO Julie Blaylock.

“Any Chamber member is eligible … regardless of how long they have been a member,” she said.

The deadline to apply for this quarter is Thursday, Sept. 15. Members can click on the link on the Chamber’s e-newsletter, by visiting the Resources tab on their online member portal on the Chamber website, e-mailing the FWKCC office at Julie@farragutchamber.com or calling the office, 865-675-7057.

“We will send out the application by e-newsletter multiple times,” she said.

Blaylock said this scholarship is different from its continuing education scholarships in that the continuing education scholarships, offered on an ongoing basis, are only for businesses that have been members of the Chamber for a year or more.

“We wanted to offer something any member could access,” she said.

“We were fortunate to be granted some additional funding from (Knox) County,” Blaylock added. “The directive was that they wanted to see it utilized to help local businesses with their technology needs.”

The scholarship also could go toward technology advancement “because we know if a business does not keep up with modern technology … it’s going to find itself behind the competition,” she said.
