Great Scott!
3rd generation seeks to match elders’ athletic excellence
With his commitment to the suddenly powerhouse University of Tennessee Baseball program, Stratton Scott, Farragut High School junior pitcher who helped lead the Admirals to a TSSAA Division I-4A state title in May (above middle collage), becomes the third in his family with a UT Vols connection. His grandfather, Farragut resident Bobby Scott, right, led UT Football to an SEC championship (1969) and top-5 national ranking (1970) in his two seasons as the Vols starting quarterback before becoming a longtime NFL back-up quarterback behind Archie Manning with the New Orleans Saints. Stratton’s father, Benson Scott, an Admirals standout football player and Farragut resident, was a member of the Vols’ 1998 national championship team. They are pictured with Benson’s youngest son, William, quarterback on a Farragut Youth Football Junior Varsity MAC team off to a hot start in 2022.
Mary Aspin Scott, Benson’s daughter, is an FHS freshman and member of a Farragut dance team that has enjoyed high-ranking national and state success in recent years.
