Rough week for FHS v’ball

Farragut High School’s volleyball team traveled to Knoxville West Wednesday., Sept. 7, and won the first set 25-21.

But they dropped the final three 25-17, 25-18 and 25-17 and lost the match, falling to 2-7.

“We won the first set, thought we had the second, third and fourth,” FHS head coach Jo Madden said of the final three sets. “The energy went down, and when the energy goes down you’re destined to lose.”

“We put all of our mental game into the first set,” said FHS hitter Mack Turner, who had 10 kills. Elsa Morrison led Farragut in kills with 11; Tori McNair led in assists (30); Morrison was high in digs (18).

Thursday, Sept. 8, the Lady Ads fell to Maryville on the road 25-19, 25-22, and 25-14.

McNair led in assists with 25. Morrison ended with 12 kills while Turner had 11.

“We fought really hard all three sets but we beat ourselves with a weak mental game,” Turner said. “Our defense was scrappy - people were diving and putting a lot of effort into each point. I’m really proud of my girls.”
