Halloween, fall family festivities announced

Families looking for fall and Halloween-themed events need to look no further than our own back yard in the coming weeks, when several churches, the Town of Farragut and other locals offer many fun- and candy-filled options.

First up is Harvest Jam from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Pinnacle at Turkey Creek. Local Vendors, music, pumpkin painting and trick or treating will be offered, with all proceeds raised going to Send Senior Citizens Love.

Cornerstone Church, 1250 Heritage Lake Blvd., will host the church’s fall festival, Cornercopia, from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, at the church, featuring children’s activities, live entertainment, free food, hay rides and games.

First Farragut United Methodist Church, 12733 Kingston Pike, will host its Fall Festival and Truck or Treat beginning at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26. Festivities will include bounce houses, snacks, crafts, games and prizes for “Best Decorated Trunk.”

Farragut Church of Christ, 136 Smith Road, will host its Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat starting at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Twenty-Sixth Annual Freaky Friday Fright Nite takes place from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park. Children ages 12 and under are invited to “trick or treat” on the walking trail while local businesses, community groups and Town of Farragut volunteers hand out treats and provide games with prizes and cookie decorating.

This is a free event, but participants are asked to bring items to benefit the local Ronald McDonald House, which provides a “home away from home” for families with critically ill children who are being served by area hospitals.

Knoxville Christian School hosts its fall festival from 5:30 to 8 p.m.. Friday, Oct. 28, at the school, 11549 Snyder Road. Cost is $20 per group, covering a meal and activities, which include Trunk or Treating and a hayride. All money raised will go to buy new playground equipment for the elementary school.

Painted Tree Boutique, 9630 Kingston Pike, will host Trunk or Treat beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, in the business’ parking lot.

Shop Farragut is offering Harvest Fest from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30, in the parking lot of Village Green Shopping Center, 11505 Kingston Pike. It will feature more than four dozen retail and promotional booths, including food and beverage vendors and four hours of “live” entertainment. New this vear will be the “visit the booth” trick or treating — and a Festival Halloween Costume Contest, with three judges: Farragut Mayor Ron Williams, Knox County Commissioner Kim Frazier and Farragut West Knox Chamber president/CEO Julie Blaylock

Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane St., will host Trunk or Treat starting at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30.

Christ Covenant Church, 12915 Kingston Pike, is hosting its annual drive-thru Trunk or Treat from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30, for individuals with special needs. Trunk or Treat stations will be located around the church in the parking lot. There will be pumpkins, candy, take-home activities and even a photo booth. Volunteers will hand out pre-packaged treats. Farragut Presbyterian Church and Faith Lutheran Church will jointly host Fall-a-Palooza from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30, at the churches, which are located along Jamestowne Boulevard, with Trunk or Treat opportunities and carnival-style games.
