Thanks to some dedicated volunteers, the grounds surrounding Concord’s West Knox Shrine Club were vastly improved last month.

Keith Kail, insurance agent with WoodmenLife, led the efforts on Sept. 16, which included mulching the property’s flower beds, spraying weeds in the driveway and trimming trees along the property, located along Loop Road.

“The Shriners allow our WoodmenLife, Lenoir City/Farragut Tennessee Chapter 3 to meet there monthly, in the lodge hall, so I felt we could give back,” Kail said.

Jen Slack along with Kail’s daughter, Amanda Kail, helped out with the most recent project, spending a total of six hours and about $144 in donations from Woodmen Life’s home office to improve the grounds.

It is actually the third project in as many years Kail has spearheaded in Old Concord, which also is his personal neighborhood, as he lives off Loop Road.

“I love this little area, and I walk it every day,” he said. “It is definitely a ‘little gem’ for our area, and I try to seek out and do little projects” where needed.

Other efforts included sprucing up a “Little Library” and repairing residential signage.
