Farragut 7th-Graders steamroll regular season foes
Thursday evening, Oct. 6, against Bearden at Farragut High School’s Bill Clabo Field, the 7th-grade Farragut Middle-School Age Conference football team romped to a 32-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back.
The final score was 40-6, as the Admirals completed a perfect 7-0 season. Ty Haley’s team now prepare for the MAC playoffs, which start Saturday, Oct. 22, at FHS. With an eight-team playoff format, the championship is Thursday, Nov. 3.
Outscoring opponets 220-30 through seven games according to coach Haley, “These guys work hard, they work their butts off,” Henley said. “It was really the defense that stood out.”
The first-quarter offense and special also shined. Donovan Lloyd returned the game’s opening kickoff for a 76-yard score. On the next Farragut possession, Nathan Jacobs broke a 72-yard scoring run to make it 16-0.
On its next drive, Admirals quarterback Kyle Clark hit Anderson Glover for a 15-yard touchdown. Glover then returned an interception for a score, making it 32-0 after one quarter.
“Glover is small but has a big heart,” Haley said. “Kyle … that kid has really developed.”
The Admirals were equally strong on defense. In the first half, Bearden was held to -15 yards on offense — and a mere 20 yards for the game. Lloyd had an interception along with Glover.
Farragut’s run-blocking and pass protection were stellar, and have been all season, offensive coordinator Robbie Jacobs said. “That’s been the difference in most of our games.”
Matthew Kitchiner stood out on the defensive line according to Haley. Logan Wright’s 47-yard TD catch from Clark in the second quarter completed the Admirals’ scoring.
Bearden’s score came in the fourth quarter on a touchdown catch by Jaksen Hargis.
