Real Men Wear Pink 10th in US: $80k-plus
“It went great,” he said Friday, Nov. 4, of the October fundraiser, for which he raised $80,107.57 for the American Cancer Society. “Even though our goal was an astounding $100,000, to be able to raise just over $80,000 is amazing.
“All in all I think our campaign was a huge success,” he added. “We just found out we were 10th in the nation with what we brought in.”
Although acknowledged at a national level, Brockamp noted the fundraiser is a local one.
“We are able to help provide rides and hotel rooms for those seeking treatment, for example,” he said.
This was the seventh year the co-owner of His Security & Technology raised funds for Real Men Wear Pink.
“Let’s face it, everyone’s life in some way or another has been affected by cancer, so it is not difficult for others to understand and support my passion to fund the cure,” Brockamp said. “I’m also passionate about the cause because, as the father of two children, the only thing I can do to help assure my kids’ future is to raise money and help fund cancer research.”
He also reported on his efforts and reasons he supports the mission during Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce’s Networking event, Thursday, Oct. 20, held at His Security & Technology’s offices, 11426 Kingston Pike, where he announced his final fund-raisers.
Brockamp credited not only donors and the community, but also the numerous sponsors who helped out with the campaign.
“Our annual auction dinner brought in just about $25,000 for the night (held Wednesday, Oct. 26),” he said. “As always it was catered by Farragut’s own Chef Deron Little and the Team from Seasons Innovative Bar and Grille.
“The food was amazing and the night was magical as usual,” Brockamp added.
Sponsors this year included: Cook Bros Homes, The Knox Fox Real Estate Group, His Security & Technology, 103.5 WIMZ, 94.3 Jack FM, William Knight Insurance Agency, Aire Today Heating and Air Conditioning, Ben Testerman Construction Company, Law Family Dentistry, Weston Paving, B97.5, Logos Etc, Alarm.Com, Melissa Majors with Gillenwater Flooring, Brandon Majors, Katie Carter, Gail Deluca of White Fox Beads and Eagle Bend Development
“Without all the support, we could not raise the kind of money we do,” Brockamp added. “I’m very grateful for all the donations and the support, but most of all appreciate the opportunity to give back.”
