Armed robbery at Dixie Lee Shell

A purportedly armed suspect is still the loose after robbing the Dixie Lee Junction Shell convenience store Monday evening, Dec. 12.

An employee reported the robbery occurred around 7:35 p.m. and told responding Loudon County Sheriff’s Office deputies the suspect was wearing a black shirt and mask when he entered the business.

The suspect demanded money and told the employee he had a weapon, although the employee said he did not see it. Employees gave the money to the suspect, who left in a vehicle of unknown description.

Authorities have been searching for the suspect in areas surrounding the store, located at 16289 Highway 70E, with reports indicating a K9 Unit assisted, as did the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Social media accounts report helicopters also have been assisting the search.

The investigation continued as of Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 14.
