Founders Week on two fronts

Founders Week Proclamation and a found 19th century letter from the pen of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut

By Proclamation, Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen designated the third week of January as Founders Week to recognize the contributions of the Farragut Community Group members, the late Ralph McGill, former mayor; Eric Johnson, Betty Dick, Ron Simandl, Gene McNalley, George Dorsey, the late David Rogers and Marianne McGill. This was read during BOMA’s meeting Thursday, Jan. 12. On hand for the presentation were, from left, Aldermen David White, founders Simandl, Marianne McGill and Johnson, Mayor Ron Williams and Alderman Drew Burnett.

This authenticated letter written by Admiral Farragut was given to Farragut resident Adam Joachim by his father, Martin Joachim (See story, Father-to-son Christmas gift an Admiral Farragut 1800s letter).
