Deadline Jan. 20 to enter Quilt Show Feb. 18-19

For the first time since before the pandemic, Farragut is hosting a Quilt Show, sponsored by the Town’s Arts & Beautification Committee.

Deadline for applications is this Friday, Jan. 20, and Quilt Show dates are 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 19, in Farragut Community Center.

An acceptance letter or e-mail will be sent between Jan. 20 and Jan. 27, according to Town information.

“This event showcases exceptional work produced by quilters in our region,” said Sue Stuhl, Town Park & Recreation director.

“The show is open to all quilters, not just Farragut residents,” she added.

“An entry form and important dates can be found at farragutparksandrec.org/quilt-show.”

“The show will feature a wide variety of designs, from 19th-century crazy quilts to quilted interpretations of modern art,” added a Town press release. “Information about each quilt will be included in a special booklet given to attendees.”

For those chosen, quilts may be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13.

A special reception will be held for the quilt owners, their guests and the public from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Feb. 19.

“The Farragut Quilt Show is part of a rotating series of art shows sponsored by the Arts and Beautification Committee,” said Town Recreation & Event manager Merritt Piper. “Town staff and the Arts and Beautification Committee are excited for the upcoming show Feb. 18-19.

“We have had a lot of interest in showing quilts so far and are excited to share the collection of quilts with the public.”

The event is free and open to the public.
