BHS girls continued perfect: 22-0

BEARDEN — It’s gratifying for a team to hang in and win a ballgame against a challenging opponent.

Then again, sometimes it’s nice to have an easy day at the office.

The latter was the case Friday night, Jan. 20, when the still unbeaten Bearden girls’ basketball team hosted Hardin Valley Academy. The Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 60-28 win.

Bearden remained perfect at 22-0 overall, 5-0 in District 4-4A. “A championship is in the details, and we wanna make sure we’re doing the little things night in and night out. Proud of our kids for continuing to take everybody’s best each night,” BHS head coach Justin Underwood said.

Freshman guard Natalya Hodge led all scorers with 19 points. Senior post Avery Treadwell added 13.

After the game, the 6-foot-3 senior was honored for surpassing 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds for her career. She was accompanied by her brother and parents.

“It was definitely a big accomplishment,” Treadwell said. “I never really thought about it, just kinda happened.”

Lexi Hall had nine for HVA. (14-8, 1-4).
