A No. 2 tourney seed, Lady Ads own Sr. Night
Farragut High School’s girls’ basketball team finished the regular season at FHS Thursday, Feb. 9, with a dominating 59-20 victory over Morristown East.
The win on Senior Night in Lynn E. Sexton Gymnasium improved the Lady Admirals’ record to 20-9 and propelled them toward the 4-4A District Tournament, which begins this week, as the No. 2 seed (7-3).
Farragut will play the winner of No. 3 Heritage (7-3) and district winless William Blount (0-10) beginning at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, in a semi-final. The consolation and championship games are Monday night starting at 6 p.m. FHS will host the tournament.

What was a competitive game Friday night after one quarter — FHS led 18-12 behind Maelyn McNealy’s 10 points — turned into a rout by the end of the third. The Lady Hurricanes scored just two points in each of the second and third periods, and only four in the fourth. Farragut scored the game’s final 15 points.
“We’ve turned into a really good defensive team,” said Jason Mayfield, FHS head coach named District 4-4A Coach of the Year. “... It’s good to mix in some offense, too. Our girls have bought in … they know we gotta play defense and rebound to win these games moving forward.”
“Give them credit, they’re a great team, well-coached,” MEHS head coach Justin Combs said. McNealy led all scorers with 18. Farragut’s Anna Margaret Pitts added nine.
“It was Senior Night, so we had to bring the energy,” McNealy said.
