Treadwell, Walls TN Miss/Mr. Hoops
MURFREESBORO — Though Avery Treadwell’s last battle as a Bearden Lady Bulldog was a tough 55-53 loss to eventual state champ Bradley Central, the star senior post helped the Lady Dawgs stage a huge rally — down 16 points late in the third frame — to pull even in the final seconds.
Also the major cog in carrying the BHS girls to a 35-0 record entering state play underscored why the 6-foot-3 senior earned Tennessee Division I-4A Miss Basketball honors for 2022-23. (See related story, 4B)
Treadwell, a Florida State University signee, joins another local star who earned similar honors putting a team on his back, which helped reap huge success.
Lukas Walls, a 6-foot-3 senior forward who led Webb School of Knoxville to the state semifinals, earned Division II-AA Mr. Basketball honors. Walls led the Spartans to an East Region title and a final 24-8 record.
