From independence to largest ET-headquartered real estate firm

Farragut to welcome Wallace Real Estate

Coldwell Banker Wallace & Wallace, Realtors, has become Wallace Real Estate, and is now the largest independent real estate firm headquartered in East Tennessee with nearly 500 agents, according to the firm’s press release.

The four partners and co-owners — brothers George Wallace and Jim Wallace, Claudia Stallings and Andrew McGranaghan — recently made the move to independence to provide more flexibility, support and opportunities for agents in a real estate market that has undergone rapid growth and changes in the Southeast.

“I’m excited about it,” Stallings said about the new branding at the firm’s 10815 Kingston Pike address. “I think it allows us to grow in ways that we were restricted before, as far as location, as far as model.”

“We’re super excited about it,” said George Wallace, CEO. “I think it’s energized our management team and energized our agents, and their full range of creativity is now unleashed to really showcase our talents in the market.

“It will be a better way to express who we are in the market,” he added. “It’s a great opportunity for us show off our skills and our talents in a unique way.”

About making the move, George said, “Our relationship with Coldwell Banker has been excellent, and we are grateful to them for many years of partnership.”

However, “We made this change to be able to nimbly provide the best support and tools to our agents and service to our clients while maintaining our warm and personable culture.”

The firm has been in business since 1936 — the last 35 years with franchisor Coldwell Banker.

”A company with nearly 90 years of success in any industry must have a strong commitment to innovation and the confidence to make big decisions,” George said.

With Wallace’s long-term agreements with Coldwell Banker expiring at the end of March, George said, “It was the opportunity to make those considerations.”

“... We decided we had assembled such a talented team around us, including our managers and our media and our training, that we wanted to launch out on our own with the talent that we have and (the move) would allow us to make quicker decisions, local decisions, in an ever-changing market that would impact our company in a better way,” he said. “We were able to replicate all the services provided by the brand on a local level.”

“We believe in local ... we were an independent brokerage for 57 years before we signed on with Coldwell Banker,” McGranaghan said.

“We also had the opportunity to join a very large, independent network called Leading Real Estate Companies of the World,” Jim Wallace said, explaining there is not a Leading RE headquarters in Knoxville/Knox County, so they had an opportunity to join it.
