Combined 12-2 start for FHS, HVA, BHS base

The three Farragut-area public high school baseball teams combined to go 12-2 — two playing tourneys in Orlando and Sevierville — to open the 2023 season last week.

Ads 4-1 in Florida

Playing many top-level Florida teams while in Orlando, Farragut went 4-1 Monday through Friday, March 13-17, with three of those wins by at least 10 runs.

Lukas Buckner, Brennon Seigler, Ellis Gleed and Gavin Brewer each had two hits in a 6-2 win versus Timber Creek. Winning pitcher Ashton Sulack went four innings (1 hit, 0 earned runs, 8 strikeouts).

Crushing Athletic Varsity 18-0, Buckner laced three hits with four RBI; Jett Johnston homered with three RBI; Seigler had three hits; Charlie Bozeman tripled with two RBI; Jake Merrick had a hit and two RBI. Winning pitcher Michael Delph went four innings (0 hits, 0 runs, 9 strikeouts).

Dominating Flager Palm Coast 12-2, Buckner connected for two doubles, Delph tripled with three RBI and Merrick had two hits and three RBI. Winning pitcher Brodie Roberts went four innings (0 hits, 0 runs, 5 strikeouts).

Following a 10-0 loss to Montverde Academy with Buckner’s two hits the highlight, Farragut bounced back to stomp Treasure Coast 15-2. Seigler connected for a triple and double among three hits; Johnston doubled with two hits and two RBI; Brewer’s three hits included three RBI; Cooper Schulze doubled with two RBI; Bozeman tripled while Gleed, Delph and Cole Draper each doubled.

Winning pitcher Reid Thomason went four innings (3 hits, 2 earned runs, 6 strikeouts).

HVA 4-0, three shutouts

Tyler Roach’s Hardin Valley Academy Hawks went 4-0 — the first three shutouts — from Monday, March 13, through Saturday, March 18.

Blanking Karns 6-0, Hawks winning pitcher Micah Hoffmeister went six innings (0 runs, 3 hits, 6 strikeouts).

Ty Denton homered among his two hits with three RBI.

Blasting Gibbs 14-0, Carson Hoffmeister homered (two hits) with two RBI; Jacob Dillion doubled with three RBI.

Whipping Christ School (North Carolina) 10-0, winning pitcher Dillon went four innings (5 hits, 0 runs, 3 strikeouts). Denton homered and tripled with three RBI; Carson Hoffmeister added three hits and three RBI.

Caleb Neely’s triple and double with two RBI and Colton Denton’s triple and double led HVA past Ravenwood 11-7.

Bearden goes 4-1

Bearden’s 4-1 record spanned March 13-16 in the Play For a Cure tourney in Sevierville and began with a 13-2 drubbing of Lakeway Christian. Kyle Moss homered (two hits) with two RBI. J.P. Harris doubled and had two RBI. Jonah Kohring had two hits while Greyson Wright homered. Winning pitcher Brooks Wright went four innings (3 hits, 1 earned run, 4 strikeouts).

Aiden Tipton’s two homers and six RBI and Harris’s home run and five RBI led BHS to a 27-3 dismantling of Morristown East. Rhys Thomas added two hits/five RBI. Winning pitcher Greyson Wright (who homered) went three innings (3 hits, 0 earned runs, 4 strikeouts).

Beating Halls 9-3, Brady Frederick homered with three RBI while Evan Goins added two hits. Tipton and Brooks Wright slugged home runs.

Riley Mahan’s walk-off homer was the only Dawgs hit, but it was good enough to edge Upperman 2-1. Tipton went seven innings on the mound (6 hits, 1 earned run, 7 strikeouts).

A 2-1 loss to Greeneville saw BHS pitcher Braden Suggs go six innings (3 hits, 0 earned runs, 10 strikeouts). Greyson Wright homered.
