Winning season for Ads boys lacrosse
While Farragut boys lacrosse won’t be going to the playoffs, the team accomplished two goals Wednesday night, April 26.
A resounding 17-4 home triumph versus Blount County on FHS Senior Night not only sent the eldest Ads out as winners this season, it also secured a winning record (8-6).
About the seniors, “they are the heart and soul of this team,” Admirals assistant coach James Graf said, as three seniors either scored or assisted on goals during the game, led by Cameron Mansfield’s three goals and five assists, along with Daniel Pomeroy’s four goals and one assist plus an assist from Tom Ray.
“A group of leaders, hard-working kids and great kids in and out of lacrosse,” he added. “And they lead by example.”
Overcoming a losing streak, “We really turned the team morale around and we really came back and put it to them,” senior captain Hayden Ashby said.
About his fellow seniors, “We’re a brotherhood for sure,” the senior said. “I’ve played with these boys for years.”
“I’ve played alongside them all my life, so it’s sad to see them go,” said junior captain William DeFranco, who scored three goals and added two assists. “It’s really nice to turn this into a winning season.”
Other FHS seniors honored were Devon Pulver, Gavin Gahagan, Richard Huang and Caiden Landis.
Other team scorers were Noah Mallery with three goals and one assist, followed by Daniel Lanning’s two goals, Fulton Jordan with a goal and one assist and Brock Lockhart scoring one goal.
