KCHS edges HVA for girls title, as Lady Admirals finish third
HARDIN VALLEY — It couldn’t have been much closer for the 2023 KIL Track & Field girls championship, as Knoxville Catholic edged host Hardin Valley Academy 121-119 to win the crown following two days of field and running events ending Tuesday, May 2.
With 90 points, Farragut’s girls took third place.
Champions
Only a freshman, Chloe Truss of Catholic swept the sprinting events, taking the 100-meter dash (12:33), the 200 (24.99) and the 400 (56.89).
Maddie Archdale, HVA junior, was a double distance champ, capturing the 800 (2:17.87) and the 1600 (5:11.93).
In the field event jumps, Webb sophomore Lennox Langham swept the long jump (16-feet-11.00) and the triple jump (36-feet-05.75).
Gracie Waite, Lady Hawks junior, swept the throwing events, winning discus (122-feet-03.00) and shot put (34-feet-10.70).
Farragut’s one girls champ was senior high jumper Callie Lefler, vaulting 5-feet-00.00.
Pole vault champ was sophomore Liliane Helton of Concord Christian School (10-feet-06.00).
In the relays among local schools, KCHS took the 4 X 400 (4:04.15), while Webb captured the 4 X 800 (9:35.82).
