‘white-glove’ treatment
“We’ve done a lot of work in the Farragut area and West Knoxville, Lenoir City area and Tellico area,” said Taylor Varney, co-owner with father/founder, Jason Varney, and brother Hunter. “This (Renaissance location) is our new headquarters and main office.”
“I’m excited to open in Farragut,” Jason said. “It’s a great area to represent ourselves in.”
Being raised in Farragut since 1977 starting when he was 3, Jason said opening the business in Town is like “having it at home.”
“It’s only been a couple months since we’ve been here, but I’ve gotten compliments,” Taylor added.
Dock & Deck is an award-winning outdoor construction company, primarily targeting boat docks for residential and commercial use, he explained.
“Complete turn-key projects [are] what we prefer to do,” Taylor said. “From permitting to building, everything we do is kind of a white-glove service.”
They have won numerous national awards from the North American Deck and Railing Association, of which Dock & Deck is a member.
The company also constructs residential back decks, screened-in porches, patio areas, outdoor kitchens, paver patios, fire pits, hardscapes and other outdoor living spaces.
“We tell people ‘from your back door out, we can do anything,’” Taylor said.
Deck features can include fire features, such as fireplaces; televisions; railings; and water features, including fountains.
Likewise with boat docks, Taylor said clients can incorporate televisions, boat lifts, jet ski lifts, storage closets, sliding hammocks, water slides, second-story decks and even fire features.
“If you can dream it, we can build it,” he said.
“There’s really no limit on what we can do, Taylor added.
Swimming pools are another aspect through its sister company, Tennessee Pool and Spas.
A few years ago, the Varneys had their own DIY show on HGTV that followed the boat dock builds they constructed.
“Just this week, we started filming something new,” Taylor said, noting, however, the network on which it will be is still “up in the air.”
The family-owned and operated company has been in existence since 2008, and has built close to 200 docks and decks since.
Dock & Deck is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and by appointment only on weekends and after hours.
