An ex-Army Battalion commander, Holbrook is War College graduate
Lt. Col. Matt Holbrook of Farragut, a U.S. Army Reserve Officer, graduated from the prestigious U.S. Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, Friday, June 9.
Holbrook, a former commander of the Knoxville-based 844th Engineer Battalion, “was selected as one of about 25 Army Reserve senior officers to attend the Active Duty Resident version of the school,” a USAWC press release stated.
“There he joined 371 senior officers from all branches of the military, government civilian employees and international students as a part of the Class of 2023,” the release further stated.
“As a result of the 10-month course, Holbrook earned a master’s degree in strategic studies with areas of concentration in Great Power Competition and Global Security Studies, with a certificate in Defense Support to Civil Authorities.
“As a part of his academic requirements, Holbrook was selected to participate in the Advanced Regional Studies Program for Eurasia, and the Integrated Lessons Learned From the Russio-Ukrainian War research project, which will support future NATO and U.S. Military training,” the release stated.
