• Engineering News-Record, a news outlet known as the authority for tracking the construction industry, recently placed The Christman Company, which has a regional office in Knoxville, at No. 85 on its 2023 “ENR 400” list of the top 400 contractors nationally. Overall rankings were calculated according to 2022 construction revenue.
• JTV, the Knoxville-based national jewelry retailer and broadcast network, recently was honored with the prestigious Indian Diamond & Colorstone Association Retailer of the Year award at the JCK Show in Las Vegas. This esteemed recognition spotlights JTV’s exceptional contributions within the jewelry industry, as well as its outstanding achievements in the retail sector.
The IDCA Retailer of the Year award is presented annually by IDCA, a respected organization dedicated to promoting excellence and innovation within the diamond, jewelry and colorstone industry. “This accolade further establishes JTV as a leader within the jewelry industry,” a press release stated.
• Knoxville Area Transit recently announced it has been awarded a 2023 Federal Transit Administration Low or No Emissions Grant to be used for overhead electric bus charging infrastructure. This $3.64 million grant recognizes KAT’s commitment to reducing emissions and improving air quality in the Knoxville area.
The FTA Low or No Emissions Grant program supports initiatives focusing on reducing emissions and enhancing air quality within local communities. FTA announced $1.69 billion in Fiscal Year 2023 project awardees, and KAT is one of the 130 projects selected. The grant program is highly competitive, and KAT’s successful application highlights the organization’s unwavering focus on embracing clean energy technologies.
• University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Brain & Spine Institute recently received American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.
• The University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Sandy Leake, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, recently was selected to be inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing Academy in Knoxville. She is senior vice president and chief nursing officer at UTMC.
