Four in custody for ‘Northshore’ alleged murder
As of Monday, Aug. 7, four people were in custody following the death of 23-year-old Alma Delia Matias, 24, who’s body was found by a jogger along Northshore Drive Sunday, July 30.
Jason Lamont Young, 23, of Knoxville, is alleged to be the shooter, and has been charged by Knox County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Crimes unit with first-degree murder. He also faces charges of arson, felony theft, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence, and has a $250,000 bond.
Rontrell Deshan Allen, 24, has been charged with arson in connection to the case, while both Tyrone Mack Jr., 18, and Jaquaysjha Ryan, 23, face charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and accessory after the fact.
According to published reports, Matias was seen on surveillance video entering a Mechanicsville apartment complex around 5:30 p.m., Saturday, July 29. She drove into the complex and entered an apartment.
Later that night, three individuals were captured, again on surveillance video, carrying something large wrapped in a blanket, which was placed inside Matias’s vehicle.
Early Sunday, July 30, Matias’ car was set on fire and discovered at the corner of Heiskell Avenue and Windstone Boulevard, according to a KCSO report.
It was later in the day that Matias’ body was discovered near the Concord-Northshore Drive roundabout.
It is unclear, and no information was available at deadline, why Matias’ body was taken to West Knox County and abandoned. No murder motive has been made public.
According to KCSO, the investigation is ongoing.
