• At 3:10 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 1, a complainant called Knox County Sheriff’s Office West Precinct to report her vehicle had been broken into near an apartment unit along Scenic Loop Way. “Complainant is unsure of how the unknown suspect(s) gained entrance to her (2015 Subaru Forester), as it was locked prior,” the report stated. “Complainant said the entire vehicle was rummaged through, glove box opened with the registration left on the seat and loose change stolen from between the front seats totaling $3.

“Complainant said the vehicle is registered to her stepfather and does have permission to use the vehicle for personal use,” the report stated. Complainant said there was no damage done to the outside or inside of the vehicle.

• At 11:23 a.m., Aug. 1, a complainant called KCSO Teleserve Unit to report identity theft from a Providence Glen Lane residence. Complainant said he received a collection notice in the mail from Comcast from a delinquent bill of $87.82, which had not been paid since May. He informed Comcast he did not begin service with them; that someone had stolen his identity to start up services at a Morningside Apartments unit.

Comcast informed him this account had been opened since Nov. 12, 2019. Complainant told Comcast he had stopped his service with their company in June 2019. “Comcast informed complainant that all this time the bill had been paid by whomever had started it up until May 2023,” the report stated. “Complainant recalled this happening once before, in which he filed a report on Nov. 4, 2015.

• At 11:51 a.m., Monday, July 31, a complainant called KCSO North Precinct to report a burglary to his 2010 Dodge Nitro that occurred at 807 Creekside Terrace Way. He advised an unknown suspect gained entry into his vehicle by unknown means and stole an estimated $1,555 in items: a Remington shotgun ($1,200), a knife ($200), a camouflage gun sleeve ($100) and $5 in change.

He advised no visible damage was observed to gain entry into the vehicle. He was advised to call back with serial numbers for NCIC entry. Victim advised the apartment complex is looking for any video surveillance.

• At 8:05 a.m., July 31, a complainant called KCSO Teleserve Unit to report a vehicle burglary from Marathon convenience store, 800 N. Campbell Station Road. Complainant advised his 1998 Ford Ranger pick-up truck was parked on the property unattended when a Cobra Derringer handgun, with a value listed at $500, was stolen.

He also advised the vehicle may have been unlocked when an unknown suspect gained entry. A little more than 24 hours later, at 9:51 a.m., Aug. 1, “the complaint called to advise he located the firearm in the parking lot of the business,” the report stated.
