Lots of Lady Admirals contribute in girls soccer rout of Halls
The Farragut Lady Admirals soccer team and its first-year head coach were looking to move to 2-0 as they hosted the the Halls Lady Devils of Thursday, Aug. 17.
Many FHS players contributed in a dominant 6-0 victory.
“We have said all year it is not about the other team, it is about us,” first-year FHS head coach Jessie Burkhart said. “If we can drown out a lot of the noise and just be present with us, that’s when we see the best version of ourselves.”
Off to an early start with barely over seven minutes taken off of the clock, freshman forward Ada Becker crossed the ball over to senior forward Reeder Kappel for the first score.
As the Lady Admirals aggressive offense seemed to keep the pressure on the Devils the whole first half, that relentlessness paid off. The second goal came from senior forward Brady Livingston with 4:25 left.
After Farragut controlled the whole first half, the Devils could not find a way to keep the ball off of their side of the field.
Livingston’s second goal of the night came on a breakaway where she successfully fooled the only defender in her way, the goalie, and kicked the ball into the back of the net with only 2:15 off of the clock into the second half.
“We are connecting with each other on and off the field and have strong team chemistry,” the senior forward said.
Livingston assisted Kappel for her second goal of the game making it 4-0.
With less than 10 minutes left in the game, Becker, who had more than her fair share of shots on goal, was apparently tired of being denied and was able to convert one of them.
And as time was running out, a header from yet another senior forward, Caylee George, provided the final goal.
