Lion-sized duties at Concord Christian for Head couple
Daniel Head is the new athletic director for the school, while his wife, Alexis, is the new preschool director.
The couple moved to Farragut earlier this summer with their four children, Jacob, 11, Erin, 9, Colin, 7 and Elias, 5, to take on their new jobs.
“We are very excited to be here,” said Daniel, who is in his 17th year as an educator. Most recently, he worked in Athens, Georgia, as a middle and high school principal, but his background also includes working as a coach.
“When this opportunity presented itself, where I could get back into athletics, we prayed about it,” he said. “It really is a passion of mine to work with coaches and athletes.”
As new AD, Daniel oversees 13 varsity sports, and he also has inherited the need for CCS Lions sports programs to have larger and updated facilities.
“We will continue to evaluate and figure out what that looks like going forward,” he said.
Former CCS AD Lincoln Thomas remains with the athletics department as director of strength and training.
Both Daniel and Alexis are natives of the upper West Coast. Alexis grew up in Washington state and Daniel grew up in Oregon. After they met and married, the couple ended up in Texas, where Alexis carried on her daycare leadership career while Daniel worked in both athletics and education.
He played football, basketball and baseball in high school. Although he didn’t play at the college level, Daniel still had a passion for sports.
“Then I got a job with the Boys and Girls Club after college, and since I always loved sports, it just fell into place,” he said. “Then the Lord just opened up Christian education for me, too.”
For Alexis, this will be the first job where she is able to work a regular Monday through Friday schedule, and for that she said she is “thankful.”
“In both Texas and Georgia, I did the preschool program for a church, but this one is for the school alone,” she added. “I was able to stay at home for a time in Georgia, but I’m glad to be able to get back into the work I love.”
The family spent time getting to know East Tennessee, spending time at Dollywood this summer.
and getting acclimated to yet another “college town.”
“We just traded one for another,” said Daniel.
