• Knoxville Jewish Alliance has announced Bryan Goldberg of Knoxville recently was appointed to the board of trustees of Jewish Federations of North America, the umbrella organization of KJA and one of the largest Jewish philanthropic organizations around the globe. Jewish Federations raise and distribute more than $2 billion annually, including through planned giving and endowment programs, to build flourishing Jewish communities domestically, in Israel and around the world.
• Qixin Zhong, professor in the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Department of Food Science, has been named an Institute of Food Technologists Fellow.
The honor was bestowed as a result of Zhong’s years of contributing to food science and to IFT through his scientific, engineering and leadership efforts.
• UT Medical Center and UT-Knoxville College of Nursing are opening the BSN Scholars Program’s satellite location with a ribbon cutting and tours of the simulation and learning lab from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 25, at UT Research Park at Cherokee Farm.
