BHS girls soccer streaks are 49 wins, 53 unbeaten
Senior captain Alivia Stott was the latest Bearden girls soccer player to step up big. as her major contribution helped the Lady Bulldogs’ add to their unbeaten and winning streaks dating back to the start of the 2021 season.
Showing nice ball control near the right corner before her crossing pass found senior Breana Mendoza for an 8-yard goal in the 21st minute against Johnson City Science Hill, which came duing the annual Bearden Invitiational Saturday evening, Sept. 2, Stott added a header from about 10 yards out just 26 seconds into the second half despite being shaken up on the play.
However, the senior not only returned, but caped off her impressive outing with a direct kick goal from about 30 yards out in the 69th minute, as Bearden blanked the Lady Hilltoppers 3-0.
About preserving the streaks, “There’s definitely always going to be pressure; we have a huge target on our back,” said Stott, as the program’s unbeaten streak improved to 53 games (5-0 this season), while the defending national champions and two-time defending Division I-AAA state champs’ winning strek grew to 49.
“We’re trying to fight all that pressure and stay strong.”
“She’a playmaker,” BHS head coach Ryan Radcliffe said about Stott, adding her accomplishment was especially noteworthy “going against Science Hill’s keeper (senior Cayden Norris), probably the best keeper in the state. She’s going to Tennessee.”
