Three HVA, one BHS cross country team win
KNOXVILLE — Senior Maddie Archdale’s latest first-place cross country finish (18:03.29), in MKXC Cherokee Classic on Cherokee Boulevard Saturday morning, Sept. 23, helped Hardin Valley Academy win the girls varsity team title with 46 points. Lady Hawk freshman Emma Cissna was fourth (18:35.33).
HVA senior Carson Long (runner-up, 16:05.69) and junior Gabe Allen (third at 16:12.91) led the Hawks boys to a first-place finish (52). Bearden junior Cade Crum was fourth (16:12.32).
Among junior varsity boys, Farragut’s Alex Moran was second, but top-20 finishes by 10 Hawks, led by Cooper McKay (fourth), Will Allen (fifth) and Andrew Parks (sixth) helped HVA edge Farragut to win 31 versus 33.
Lia Hurley’s runner-up finish (among five BHS runners in top 20) allowed the Bearden JV girls to finish first (27). Laura Cunningham of Farragut was individual champion (22:07.51).
Lady Hawks Olivia Schippers, Rachel Benson and Andie Oc’Connor were third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
