Dream fullfilled
Garza’s full-service Salon Haven is a welcomed addition in Lovell Heights Shopping Center
“I never, ever dreamed I would have a full salon of my own, but my husband (Michael Garza) has been super supportive,” said Kimberly Garza, owner of Salon Haven. “We’re loving it so far.”
Garza and her staff can provide such hair services as hair extensions, highlights and men’s and women’s cuts.
“And, we have a lash tech who does lash extensions, and she does brow tinting and eyelash tinting,” the salon owner said.
Additionally, “we have an esthetician who does full-body waxing,” Garza said. “It’s called sugar waxing, which apparently not a lot of people do that. She does facials and all things related.”
The idea to purchase the salon was his idea,” she said, referring to her husband. “He pushed me in this direction.”
Previously, Garza and best friend, Alexa Marion, had a suite in Renaissance | Farragut for six years, and prior to that, the two women worked together for many years at other salons.
“(The owners of the Renaissance location) came to us one day and said they were going to sell our building,” Garza said. “We were like, ‘Oh no.’ We never thought what we would do not having that space.”
However, the move gave both ladies, still best friends, an opportunity to venture out on their own with each opening a salon.
“The opportunity just kind of fell in our laps,” Garza said. “I was going to go to another suite or something like that, and Michael said, ‘Why don’t we just open a salon?’
“We started looking around at spaces, and (this location) was just perfect and just fell right in place,” she added. “He did a lot of work himself.
“We have 14 stations, and we are all full, except for one. We had so many girls contact us after we started posting that we were open.”
The stylists are commissioned stylists so “they do their own scheduling, come in as they please,” she said.
“I just love my job; I just love working with people,” Garza added. “It makes me feel good when I can make others feel good about themselves.”
Salon Haven is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and closed Sundays and Mondays.
